You may have already caught on that there is not a whole lot to do in Moldova. Which leads nicely to my next posting about our recent trip to Romania. We had a long weekend in October and loaded up the car for a trip back to the Painted Monasteries in Northern Romania. We had visited before, but lost all of our pictures when our computer crashed. So this was basically damage control trip.

I've talked about them before so I'll be brief this time. These Monasteries were painted hundreds of years ago. What makes them so unique is that they were painted on the outside. They are all UNESCO World Heritage sites now and the quality of the paintings has been compared to that in the Sistene Chapel.
